It’s been a tough week for hip-hop and music at large. The tragic passing of Nipsey Hussle won’t be forgotten, and we will continue to uphold his legacy by continuing his music in rotation, listening to his interviews, and heeding his sage advice. While there is no cure for this heartbreak, we can try to momentarily redirect our focus by listening to the new music that has come out today, April 5th.
Today’s “New Music Friday” is an interesting mix of releases, ranging from projects to singles — and some unsuspecting features.
On the project front, we have Khalid’s long-anticipated sophomore effort Free Spirit and Zaytoven’s Make America Trap Again.
For the singles, Billy Ray Cyrus hopped on Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” for an official remix, Anderson .Paak tapped Smokey Robinson for his new single “Make It Better,” and 88GLAM grabbed Nav for “Snow Globe.”
