50 Cent’s highly awaited album “Before I Self Destruct” has moved its release date…again. 50 has pushed the album back and it’s set to release on the same day as Birdman’s “Pricele$$” album as well as other artists who are releasing their albums on this day. These artists include new comer Jay Sean’s “All Or Nothing”, Lady GaGa’s “The Fame Monster”, Timbaland’s “Shock Value 2”, as well as Rihanna’s new album.
If your wondering why all these big albums are being released on the same day, it’s not a coincidence. Universal Music Group has decided to move up the majority of its November 24 releases by one day to Monday, November 23, a day before the traditional Tuesday release. This move extends across the Universal roster, including Interscope, Geffen A&M, Universal Motown/Republic, and Island Def Jam.
The new date will take full advantage of the start of the holiday shopping season when customers gather to stores to stock up on gifts. We’ll see who wins the race on this Super Monday, I’m rooting for 50, but I have a feeling that crazy Lady GaGa is going to come in first.
