article-afroWhoever said that cartoons were for children probably never watched Afro Samurai. Spearheaded by the voice of Samuel L. Jackson, the series enters another season, and with another season comes another soundtrack.

The Grand Marshall of everything Wu-Tang and martial arts, The RZA himself is once again behind the boards architecting a soundtrack to fit the show’s persona.

This time around a handful of Clansmen like KillaPriest , 60 Second Assassin, Inspectah Deck, and Ghostface Killah join the bill. Also making appearances are one-time Flipmode Squad member Rah Digga and lyrical legend Kool G. Rap.

The RZA also makes a verbal presents, but keeps it very limited leaving most of the booth work to the artists he recruited to embrace the laws of the samurai.

Songs to look out for on the project are records like ‘You Already Know’ (featuring Kool G. Rap, Inspectah Deck, and Suga Bang), ‘Whar’ (featuring Ghostface Killah, Kool G. Rap, Tash Mahogany, and The RZA), ‘Girl Samurai Lullaby’ (featuring Rah Digga), ‘B*tch Is Gonna Get ‘Ya’ (also featuring Rah Digga), and ‘Dead Birds’ (featuring Killa Priest).

All artist that leant their vocals to the soundtrack stay on the same page by keeping with the theme of show, and incorporating the “way of blade” into their content—all under the watchful eye of The RZA; as he matches up his one-of-a-kind production alongside those he chose to help create his latest soundscape.

But like all soundtracks, some songs fall just short of the measuring stick. Other than that, if you’re a fan of the series or just a fan of The RZA’s work for that matter, this newest installment of music is still worth checking out.
