Better late than never, right?

It might have arrived 12-hours later than promised, but, finally, Kanye’s Jesus Is King is here. Yes, the successor to last summer’s Ye is now available on all streaming platforms.

Kanye’s ninth studio album is as advertised: a gospel album. From the content to the sonics, the soulful essence of Ye and his connection with God have been packaged into this 11-track, 27-minute, experience. Mirroring this conflation of gospel and hip-hop, Jesus Is King features the Sunday Service Choir, Ty Dolla $ign, Ant Clemmons, Fred Hammond, Clipse (!), and the one and only, Kenny G.

While fans were left thinking Kanye was getting another one over on them when JIK didn’t arrive on time, Consequence later tweeted that they were up to the wee hours mixing and mastering, treading in the waters of tedium. He didn’t even get to eat dinner.

Now that Jesus Is King is officially here, the plates are full. In the wise words of Roman Pearce from 2 Fast 2 Furious, “We hungry.”
