Bringing that heat.

Whoa, Kenny! The producer tag that has been stamped on such tracks as Huncho Jack’s “Dubai Shit” and Vince Staples’ “FUN!” has just found a new home: Smokepurpp’s hypnotic “Repeat.”

A fitting title given the track’s rewindable nature, “Repeat” marks the first collaboration between the South Florida and Connecticut-based producer. From the sound of their chemistry and mutual energy provided, it’s a safe bet that this won’t be their last.

With aspirations of becoming the Rick Rubin of his generation, Kenny Beats intimately studies his artists to tailor sounds uniquely to their style, flair, and energy. On “Repeat,” Kenny provides Purpp with an upbeat, distorted instrumental that sounds like high-brow lo-fi production — essentially a polished iteration of the SoundCloud camp in which Purpp hails from.

Comprised of a booming bass-focused core accented by experimental elements, coupled with Purpp’s swag-style rapping, “Repeat” has the makings of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
