Common recently held several listening sessions for his new album, “Finding Forever”, set to drop on July 10 and has been getting some positive responses. But what fans are also anticipating is Common’s performance in the long-awaited and highly-anticipated film, “American Gangster,” where he actually plays the father of T.I.’s character.

“They had to age me a little bit, ’cause I ain’t that old,” Common told Entertainment Weekly. “I just got into the mindset. More than anything, it was just an honor to be on the set with Denzel Washington and Ruby Dee and Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe. To be able to say I’m in this movie with them — it’s a big step for me, you know?”

The film, set to hit theatres this fall follows the story of a drug lord (Washington) as he smuggles heroin into Harlem during the 1970s by hiding the stash inside the coffins of American soldiers returning from Vietnam. The film also stars the RZA, Cuba Gooding Jr., Carla Gugino, and Josh Brolin.
