Fresh off her XXL 2019 Freshman selection, New York’s Rico Nasty is back with her new single, “Time Flies.”
Somewhat off-brand for the 22-year-old artist, “Time Flies” is more of a melodic offering — a stark contrast to Rico’s conventional aggressive, rapid-fire approach. Regardless of stylistic shift, “Time Flies” proves that Rico can occupy multiple artistic lanes as she deftly navigates the “sugar trap” instrumental.
And while most of her vocals on this track are a softer counterpart to her impressive musical library, she still reserves pockets of the song to enlist traces of her career-catapulting combative flow. It’s a testament to the style that gave Rico her current platform, and potentially a hint of the stylistic experimentation to come.
