The First XXL Freshman Cypher Installment Has Arrived

Featuring DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Mosey, & YK Osiris.

The 2019 XXL Freshman list is officially out, assigning 10 talented MCs bragging rights as their class’ ambassadors. Making this year’s list is a relatively diverse collection of individuals — Lil Mosey, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, YBN Cordae, Blueface, Gunna, Tierra Whack, YK Osiris, Comethazine, and Rico Nasty — who act as a bridge between a classic hip-hop focus and its modern counterpart. 

Putting these ranging talents on full display, XXL has recently put out the first installment of their iconic freshman cypher series, part of their robust campaign rollout. Broken into two groups, the first cypher is headlined by DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, YK Osiris, and Lil Mosey; the latter six are expected to drop soon, too.

While YK Osiris and Lil Mosey proudly adhere to the newer hip-hop iteration, anyone can rejoice listening to DaBaby and Meg absolutely rip their moments with the mic — lyrical tenacity, flair, style, flow, emotion decorate both of their sets.
