“Two-door coupe, hoppin’ out like Jack-In-The-Box”
He posted a cryptic caption of “2 MORE DAYS” to his Instagram three-days ago. A day later, he provided slightly more context with a snippet of one of our favorite Crips going wild to a hard beat and an infectious hook. And one day after that, ScHoolboy Q delivered his first single in years with “Numb Numb Juice.”
Some sort of homage to E-40, the man who coined “numb numb juice” for alcohol, Q’s new track is a raucous, albeit brief, reintroduction to TDE’s Scottie Pippen. With almost three-years passing since Blank Face LP, there was a void left in the wake of Q’s absence. But with “Numb Numb Juice,” that void has been filled — our cup runneth over.
Although under two-minutes-long, “Numb Numb Juice” condenses the strength of a power ballad into a succinct offering, dualistically appeasing the Q hiatus while leaving his rabid fanbase wanting more — much more.
With the Blank Face LP successor expected to drop some time this year, it seems like ScHoolboy has fully-returned to album mode. All we can do is wait — and bump “Numb Numb Juice.”
