In an interview discussing the details to his upcoming album, Apathy informed HipHopDX that he was absent from the latest Get Busy Committee video (“Opening Ceremony”) because he had a mental breakdown. “I went from July [and] being in Switzerland [and other countries] overseas, and doing huge shows in front of 50,000 people with no problem, and then all of a sudden [coming] home and something snapped in my brain. And I developed a severe panic, anxiety disorder and agoraphobia. I’ve barely left my house” revealed the Connecticut emcee in an interview published this morning. “I still have not driven a car in the past five months. I got a brand new Audi sitting in my driveway [but] I don’t drive [it]. It’s hard for me to go to the supermarket. But, things have been getting better. Like, in the last couple months I been better. But like a few months ago, four or five months ago, absolute hell. My life was unbelievable. I couldn’t leave. I couldn’t go anywhere. I was having problems. It was just unreal, like uncontrollable. Some people get anxiety when they go out, [but] my anxiety was still going on when I was sitting at home doing nothing… It was just non-stop, all the time. It felt like constantly having a bad high.” Ap went on to say that he is suffering from a chemical imbalance, but undergoing treatement.

For those unfamiliar with Apathy, I’d definitely recommend checking him out. In terms of raw lyrics and flow, there aren’t many better than him. He’s actually a dope producer, too. His 2009 album, Wanna Snuggle, was one of my favorite releases of the year. Even though Ap’s been confined to his home for a few months, he’s continued to bang out new material and is working on his forthcoming album, Honkey Kong and a new Get Busy Commitee project. Aside from Ap himself, DJ Premier, Da Beatminerz, DJ Muggs and Statik Selektah are set to provide production for Honkey Kong. Long time affiliate Celph Titled, Blue Raspberry, Xzibit and Bishop Lamont will also make guest appearances. The first single from Honkey Kong, “Make Alotta Money,” can be heard here.
Too much weed will do that. Don't worry your brain will snap back. Just remember that things aren't as bad as they seem.
