Talib steps into the Hot 97 studios and kicks some freestyle bars for Flex over Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm” instrumental.
Last month, 9th Wonder and Talib Kweli -- under the pseudonym Indie 500 -- were graciously joined by West Coasters Problem and Bad Lucc. Today, they're sharing the powerful visuals from their latest track, ''Which Side Are You On'', featuring another pair of guests in Tef Poe and Kendra Ross. Furthermore, Kweli revealed the concept behind ''Which Side Are You On'', as well as it's moving video. Kweli says the song ''pays homage to those murdered by the police over the past year and those who have taken a stand'' and that the video -- which contains footage from the Ferguson Rocks and Ferguson Is Everywhere fundraiser -- features Tom Morello, Bun B, Common, Outernational, Cornel West, Pharoahe Monch, Jasiri X, M-1 of dead prez and K'Valentine all of whom ''participated in the August concerts''. Super-producer 9th Wonder and all-around stand-up emcee Talib Kweli, better known as Indie 500, are finally sharing the first offering from their collaborative project in "Pay Ya Dues," which features a pair of West Coast rappers, Problem and Bad Lucc. No word as to when their highly-anticipated debut project will drop, but alls we know is "Pay Ya Dues" is the jam and the production, handled by The Soul Council's Eric G, is dope as hell. Talib Kweli is looking to get your weekend started right with a new jam. The track, entitled "F**k the Money," arrives just as Talib announced the forthcoming release of an album of the same name. Talib also clarified that the album could drop at any given time -- even today. Looks like Talib is getting in on the surprise release hype! In addition, he's stated that if you head over to the site http://kweliclub.com/ and sign up, you may be receiving the new album for free. Amid all the chaos happening outside, Kendrick Lamar managed to perform at Hot 97's Summer Jam concert in New Jersey yesterday. During his set he did To Pimp a Butterfly cuts "The Blacker the Berry", "King Kunta", and "Hood Politics" for the first tim livee. You can watch a video of the performance after the jump, via Hot 97. Schoolboy Q also came out to do "Collard Greens" and "Studio."
With winter finally on its way out and summer just a few more months away Hot 97 is beginning to reveal the acts that will be scheduled to perform at their annual Summer Jam festival. B.o.B, Joey Bada$$, Travi$ Scott, DeJ Loaf, and Teyana Taylor have just been announced to play at the festival, which is taking place Sunday, June 7 at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey. Be sure to peep the announcement video after the jump which will, of course, include a number of surprise guests for Sunday's big show.
