A few nights ago, Kanye West and fellow G.O.O.D. Music member Pusha T stopped by Funkmaster Flex’s show on Hot 97. After both men finished an acapella “freestyle” session, the album promotion began. Speaking on his “banned” album art for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye insisted that it was his marketing team that rejected the cover art. He then went on to speak about being in the fourth grade and painting pictures of nude women, because it was “proper art,” and that the proposed cover is nothing short of that. For those wondering, most retailers will carry a cover with the original image pixilated. At another point Kanye claims that his former fiancé, Alexis, compared Yeezy to 70s artists like Pink Floyd because of how cutting edge he is.

Funk catches ‘Ye of guard by asking how he hooked up with Selita Ebanks. Although the wording of the question brought a bashful smile to the face of West, he gave a legit answer and did not officially state that he was dating her. Kanye then candidly admitted that Amber Rose was a big inspiration for the phoenix in his Runaway film. Kanye West said that there’s no animosity between him and Jim Jones even after the diss track, saying that “not everyone’s going to agree with everything I do …if I made a diss record, I’d kill me!” ‘Ye went on to say that he still sees Dame Dash, and feels like he helped him get to where he is in his career. Aside from everything I previously mentioned, Kanye shouted out Joell Ortiz, which was pretty interesting and said that he challenged himself on the new album by purposely not using the words “like” or “as.” Enjoy the interview below.
