“GOAT talk of the century”

Young Thug’s recent album, So Much Fun, marked a momentous occasion for the versatile artist, notching him his first number-one project with over 180,000 first-week units. And not only has it been an outsized commercial success, it’s received high praise from outlets like Pitchfork, who awarded it an 8.4/10 and the lauded “Best New Music” tag, HipHopDX, and more. Bringing the engaging audio to life, Thug recently delivered the music video for the album’s introductory track, “Just How It Is.”

An album with so many textures, serving as a microcosm for Thug’s overall artistry, “Just How It Is” plays to Thugger’s softer side, making for a melodic, engaging offering. Thug manifests this ethos on the official music video through stripped-down, black and white imagery, juxtaposed with colored visuals of him lying in a hospital bed.

In classic Young Thug fashion, he also enlists visual metaphors to further contextualize his song and essence — mainly by having a goat roaming the white-backdropped set. After all, Thug is regarded as one of his generation’s most creative, risk-taking, and influential artists. In the words of Young Thug, “GOAT talk of the century.”

Knocking on the door of one-million views, the “Just How It Is” video is currently number 25 on YouTube’s top-trending list.
