Uh Oh ….. New York has a new man or should I say young man. lol
If America is looking for good songs, sung the right way, may we suggest that the place to find them is not on a televised talent show… but in the much-anticipated Spring 2008 tour co-headlining two of the new R&B’s brightest young lights: Music Line/Capitol Music Group’s gold-certified J. HOLIDAY, and Song Book/Atlantic’s TREY SONGZ. Through these exceptional singer-songwriters, the mid-Atlantic will represent in twenty-one cities across the country, as Washington, DC’s Holiday and Virginia-based Songz play their dates through late March. J. Holiday and Trey Songz currently share commanding chart positions in the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Top 5, with Holiday’s second smash single “Suffocate” maintaining a bulleted No. 4, and Trey Songz’ “Can’t Help But Wait” at No. 5. Both songs reached No. 2 on the chart previously. “Suffocate” has also reached the Top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 national chart. Sustained strong airplay and re-release of Holiday’s first Music Line/Capitol album BACK OF MY LAC’ on February 5, in a deluxe edition with new songs and videos added, triggered a sales spike this week of over 40% and a major chart rebound on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart in its 18th charting week. BACK OF MY LAC’ debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and is certified gold by the RIAA for sales of more than 500,000 copies. Holiday’s first charted single, “Bed,” was a four-week No. 1 R&B/Hip-Hop single, and was described by The New York Times as “arguably 2007’s signature slow jam.” Trey Songz’ hit single “Can’t Help But Wait” featuring Plies, is included on the original motion picture soundtrack of Touchstone Pictures’ STEP UP 2 THE STREETS in a brand-new remix. A new video, directed by Syndrome, accompanies the remix. The soundtrack was released February 5. His album “TREY DAY” debuted on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at No. 2 . Beginning this month, the makers of Smirnoff vodka are launching an exciting new Smirnoff Signature Mix Series, a campaign pairing three acclaimed rappers with contemporary beat-maestros to create new versions of iconic hip-hop songs. Nationally renowned artists Common, Q-Tip, and KRS-One are joining musical forces with Just Blaze, Cool & Dre, and DJ Premier to remix Common’s "The Light," A Tribe Called Quest’s "Midnight," and Boogie Down Productions’ seminal "Criminal Minded." The Smirnoff Signature Mix Series is part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to fostering and promoting both established and emerging musical talent. Sources have informed the media about a shocking event that took place outside of a New Orleans nightclub. The source, Ira Dewitt, and Tank aka Durrel Babbs were leaving the club and walking to meet their driver when they encountered a police roadblock. Apparently, there’d been a shooting. According to the source, the police were very rude in telling the two that they couldn’t walk through the area. Like a gentleman, Tank spoke up for himself and his lady friend, telling the cops they didn’t have to speak to them in the way they did. The two were walking away from the scene when out of now where 3 cops tackled Tank and began tasing him. He was arrested early yesterday morning on a number of counts, including disorderly conduct, and just released on bail ah hour ago. If this story is accurate, this will definitely be an embarrassment to the New Orleans Police Dept. source
This past Valentine’s Day weekend contemporary R & B sensation Trey Songz made time for his women and his music. While staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Trey Songz likely recorded another hit single with E! Networks own DJ Clinton Sparks (who was the producer behind Akon’s last hit “Blame It On Me”). After their studio session, the duo then made their way to E! Network’s weekly party, “Smashtime” at Body English hosted by “The Daily 10” crew Sal Masekela, Ben Lyons and Clinton Sparks where they partied until 3am. There they were swarmed by women after Trey Songz’ steamy performance of his chart topping single “Can’t Help But Wait.” Check Trey Songz latest video, "Last Time"

TVT Records is filling for Chapter 11(Bankruptcy), after reportedly firing it’s staff. The label, founded and still run by Steve Gotlieb, has been in existence over 22 years. In Hip Hop, the label’s largest successes have come from southern acts such as Lil Jon and the Ying Yang Twins. In the last three years, TVT had witnessed a severe decline in its urban sales. As Lil Jon publicly skewered the label and withheld submitting his next album, Pitbull, as recently as last week, encouraged his fans to bootleg his music, an action against TVT.
