Harlem rapper ASAP Rocky’s love for Black Scale gear has been well-documented across various videos and photoshoots, so it comes as no surprise that the San Francisco-based label has gifted the 23-year-old star with his own signature collection. Complex caught up with Black Scale’s MEGA and Alfred to learn more. So the capsule collection was inspired by A$AP Rocky. Tell us more how he influenced the aesthetic of the collection. Alfred: Rocky has been a fan of Black Scale since before we actually met. It just so happened that I was working the sales floor the day he decided to come in and purchase items for his video shoot for “Purple Swag.” He had a great energy and was a genuinely nice guy. The video dropped and the relationship continued to grow organically. The response was so overwhelming that it made sense to do a collabo. The design influences were taken from what the A$AP crew liked about Black Scale. I tried to integrate all the aesthetics that drew the crew to the brand, always keeping in mind that they should look good in it when they wear it. The collection of sweats, tees and caps with be available through BLVCK SCVLE in March. Check Complex for the full interview.
Interscope‘s latest recruit, Iggy Azalea recently sat with RapFix and revealed that T.I. will be the executive producer on her debut album, The New Classic. “T.I.’s gonna be helping me with it, kind of A&R-ing, kind of executive producing,” Azalea said. “He called me up like, ‘Please?’ and I was like, ‘Definitely. You’re Tip; I love you — of course.’ So he’s gonna be helping me out, just reaching out to people and helping me find production and pointing me in the direction of things that I might like.” Get More: Music News
Listen to the story of artist David Choe who is about to score big thanks to Facebook’s announcement of a $5 billion public offering on Wednesday that has the company valued at nearly $100 billion. NYT “In 2005, Mr. Choe was invited to paint murals on the walls of Facebook’s first offices in Palo Alto, Calif., by Sean Parker, then Facebook’s president. As pay, Mr. Parker offered Mr. Choe a choice between cash in the “thousands of dollars,” according to several people who know Mr. Choe, or stock then worth about the same. Mr. Choe, who has said that at the time that he thought the idea of Facebook was “ridiculous and pointless,” nevertheless chose the stock. Many “advisers” to the company at that time, which is how Mr. Choe would have been classified, would have received about 0.1 to 0.25 percent of the company, according to a former Facebook employee. That may sound like a paltry amount, but a stake that size is worth hundreds of millions of dollars, based on a market value of $100 billion. Mr. Choe’s payment is valued at roughly $200 million, according to a number of people who know Mr. Choe and Facebook executives.”
