Update # 3: 50 Cent – Mayweather Beef A Sham?

50 Cent took to Twitter this morning to announce that his professional relationship with Floyd Mayweather is officially over, but judging by these tweets it seems like their friendship may also be on ice. 

Never one to hold his tongue, 50 took to Twitter to announce that he has ended his partnership in the boxing promotion company, The Money Team Promotions (TMT Promotions), and that he is branching out as SMS Audio Promotions (taking its name from the parent company of those Beats By Dre knockoffs that Curtis dropped last year).

50 partnered with Floyd and launched TMT Promotions earlier this year after becoming a licensed boxing promoter.  The company most notably signed gold-medal winning featherweight Yuriorkis Gamboa in July.  Based on 50’s tweets it appears that the relationship was severed due to a dispute over money.  We’ll keep you posted as the story progresses.

 

 

 

 

 

Update: ESPN.com writer Dan Rafael reports that on September 19th, 50 Cent informed the executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission via email that Floyd Mayweather would no longer be involved in applying for a promoter’s license,  although 50 originally stated that Mayweather would be part of the venture.  Rafael also asserts that featherweight titlist Billy Dib, is signed to SMS Promotions, not TMT, and that he will make his next title defense on December 1st at Madison Square Garden in New York, on the undercard of Miguel Cotto’s fight against junior middleweight titleholder Austin Trout.  It sounds like 50 either went behind Floyd’s back on this and signed fighters to his own company, or perhaps Floyd did not hold up his part of their partnership, which led to 50 dissolving TMT.  More details to come.

 

Update #2:   Floyd Mayweather jumped back on Twitter to throw some verbal punches of his own towards Curtis.  It appears that Rick Ross  is using this opportunity to align himself with the champ and renew his beef with 50. By the way, is “#OilMoney” not one of the best things Rozay has ever tweeted?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Update # 3: 50 Cent took to Twitter once again, but this time not to trade insults with Money Mawyeather. The G-Unit general claimed via the social network that sparked the beef that his online confrontation with Mayweather was really just a sham, staged for attention.  I’ll hold my judgement until Floyd comments on this, as he ripped into 50 pretty badly, and also because 50 keeps hash-tagging “SMSaudio” after every tweet.
