What’s a week for a hip-hop head without checking album sales?  As Jay-Z once so eloquently stated, “number don’t lie.”  This week the numbers proved that Murs is still an independent powerhouse with a strong opening for his collabo with Ski Beatz. Although the Nappy Roots’ collaborative project with Organized Noise failed to break the 1,000 unit mark, it’s still a relatively impressive figure considering that their album will did not arrive in chain stores until this week.  The numbers also proved favorable for Mayer Hawthorne who dropped his major label debut, How Do You Do, which has moved over 15,000 units in its first two weeks on the charts.  Next week will likely be a slow sales week so if you have any album sales requests, feel free to post them in the comments section.

Mayer Hawthorne “How Do You Do” – 15,367 (82% digital) *two week total*

Murs “Love And Rockets Vol. 1: The Transformation”  – 2,143 (49% digital)

Nappy Roots “Nappy Dot Org” – 904  (48% digital)

Icebird (RJD2 + Aaron Livingston)
“The Abandoned Lullaby” – 296
