French Montana and Swae Lee perform their 2017 hit at the Teen Choice Awards.

French Montana is in the midst of a pivotal career juncture. While the Coke Boys quarterback is no stranger to issuing monster hits, such as 2016’s “Lockjaw” and 2013’s “Pop That”, he’s now inching towards pop star ubiquity—a level reserved for names like Drake, Bieber, and Migos.

While his most recent album, Jungle Rules, impressively debuted at number-three on the US Billboard 200, one song in particular credits French with this upward brand mobility: “Unforgettable” featuring Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee. The Jaegan and 1Mind-produced track exudes addicting sonics that have earned the Hip Hop – Dancehall crossover hit enormous success, including notching number-one spots on both the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop (Billboard) and US Rhythmic (Billboard) charts—new milestones for the Moroccan rapper. This past Sunday, the two brought the hit to life with their 2017 Teen Choice Awards performance.

Appropriately decorated in jungle-themed clothing, French and Swae walked out to an effusive, welcoming crowd who supplemented the vocals with cheers, cries, and a lyrical competency—cornerstones of a chart-topping track. Background dancers outfitted in similar attire, in addition to rainforest accents like parrots and tropical trees, brought the jungle theme to fruition, making for a memorable performance for one of summer 2017’s biggest songs.
