All-Star Weekend concluded with the West outscoring the East 146-119. As usual, a minimal amount of defense was played with dunks and lay-ups predominately taking the place of the old fashioned jumpshot.
The game also saw the trio of Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant, and Shaquille O’Neal reunite on the same team since their break up back in 2004.
While Dwight Howard and Shaquille O’Neal lived out their dreams of being point guards with handle, LeBron James displayed a little of what to expect at next year’s All-Star Weekend by showcasing a self-pass off the backboard dunk he might use in the dunk contest (if he so enters).
In a diplomatic move, Commissioner David Stern presented the MVP Award to both Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, as they jointly shared co-MVP honors.
Starting tomorrow, it’s back to business with every team fighting for a playoff berth, and GM’s shuffling their rosters around in order to get that much-needed help to assist them on their road to a championship… See you in the playoffs.
