Everyone and their grandmother is now familiar with the viral sensation, Lil Nas X. Embodying his generation’s love for internet moments, the 20-year-old artist triumphantly rose to ubiquity with his hit record, “Old Town Road,” and the subsequent Billy Ray Cyrus remix. Now, the country x trap crossover is enjoying its 10th consecutive week as Billboard Hot 100’s number-one track.
From having a mere $5.62 in his Wells Fargo bank account to breaking Drake’s streaming records, and now having the longest-running number-one single since Drizzy’s “In My Feelings,” Lil Nas X has more than arrived — he’s given further credence to how a DIY work ethic and mentality can transform anyone’s situation.
Recently, Lil Nas X also released the tracklist for his seven-song EP, 7, slated for a June release through Columbia Records.
