mayweatherpacmanManny Pacquiao will allegedly fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on March 13th in the biggest fight of this generation.  The fight has yet to be officially announced, though reports are rampant that everything is settled and that they are now just looking for a location for the fight (The rumors have been swirling for about a month or so…we first reported about this fight on the site a month ago HERE).  They will fight as welterweights at 147 pounds.  Both fighters will come into the fight as the most dominant fighters of the era, and both are vying for the title of “best pound-for-pound boxer in the world.”  These two fighters have been on a collision course for years, even as Mayweather retired from boxing and Pacquiao began to focus on political and entertainment endeavors in his home country of the Philippines.  The parties will split the purse from the fight, which encorporates both gate ticket sales as well as pay-per-view sales.  Some predict that this fight could dwarf the now-standing record of pay-per-view revenue set by Mayweather in his 2007 fight with Oscar De La Hoya.  Many arenas and locations have thrown their names into the hat to land this huge fight.  While Las VegasMGM Grand is the favorite to host the event, a big push is being made by Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys organization to bring the fight to Cowboys Stadium, a brand new, state-of-the-art facility that can hold upwards of 100,000 people for most events.  Other locations that have been mentioned are Miami‘s Land Shark Stadium, New OrleansSuperdome, an outdoor, make-shift stadium in Vegas, and a push from the Republic Of Congo to host the event in their country.  While signs point to Vegas (as they do for most big fights), look out for the Dallas team to make a big push, as they are trying to make this event the first landmark sporting event to take place at the stadium.
