Representing for the Midwest.

Each American (and international) region poses unique hip-hop qualities. Whether it’s a dialect, a lexicon, or an attitude, a city’s ethos is often imbued in the music it yields. For the Midwest, which consistently pushes the creative envelope, this decorated area has birthed legends and hungry newcomers alike, all who have a shared goal of advancing hip-hop. Sada Baby and G Herbo, Detroit and Chicago representatives, respectively, are the most recent to demonstrate this mentality with their new collaboration, “150/55.”

Over a funky instrumental, Sada and Herbo use the beat as the middle part of a Venn Diagram to show how even though they have disparate styles, they’re able to find mutual sonic footing on the vibey production. The two take turns asserting their presences, and collectively reinforce the notion that the Midwest is an unadulterated force in hip-hop.
