The New York artist delivers a positive message.

New York’s Liam Tracy has a proven track record of creating eclectic music; his catalogue is a rich mosaic. An artist who’s equally adept at penning rhymes that would make his Empire State predecessors proud as he is impressing hip-hop’s new generation, Liam’s style and creativity can’t be confined to one mold. After delivering his successful 2021 debut track, “Goin Up,” Liam returns today with his introspective new single, “Step It Up.”

As a man whose personal growth has correlated with his artistic maturation, Liam Tracy is intimately familiar with the trials and tribulations of the human experience. He’s loved, he’s suffered, he’s laughed, he’s cried, he’s lived. And throughout it all, one constant on his journey has been music’s reassuring hand on his shoulder; it’s been there to console him when he’s down, to celebrate with him when he’s won. On “Step It Up,” Liam comforts listeners by providing them with transparent vulnerability.

The somber guitar-dominated production sets the tone for Liam’s honest offering. “Step It Up” is an allegory of renewed perspective: while the Drugs & Alcohol artist has dealt with endless nights of despair whispering in his ears, Liam Tracy, through experience and growing optimism, feels fortunate to be alive. The adversity doesn’t define the man, the man is defined by how he responds to the adversity. Liam encourages those submerged in existential dread to leverage those traumas for growth, to not succumb to negativity. He knows that darkness informs the light; his light has never shined brighter.

Liam Tracy is aware that there is an abyss of lost souls out there, desperate to find some semblance of connection. Liam also is aware that he’s uniquely positioned to help those emotionally-worn individuals with his musical gift, just as others’ music has been cathartic for him. With “Step It Up,” Liam pays it forward by enlisting harrowing personal anecdotes to give hope to the hopeless, to let them know that they are not alone.
