X’s voice lives on.
As the music world is still reeling from the untimely passing of the polarizing, incredibly talented Xxxtentacion, his voice still passionately lives on. After breaking Spotify’s single-day streaming record with his hit track, “SAD!”, he’s surpassed potentially an even more impressive posthumous achievement: becoming the first deceased individual since Biggie deceased to gain a Billboard #1 single.
“SAD!” moved from #52 to #1 following X’s death, reinforcing how strong of a following he had while he walked the earth, and how it’s strengthened in this face of this tragedy.
According to Nielsen, “SAD!” amassed 48.9 million streams, 26,000 downloads and 2.9 million radio audience impressions during the week of June 17th.
