Album Sales, week of 3/3/09

albumsalesWhatup everybody?  It’s a recession!
It was a pretty slow week… not that many hip-hop albums dropped.  There were a bunch of small releases that I’m seeing for sale on UGHH and Amazon that all scanned under 100 units, so I’m not even going to mention those (except for Chicharones, b/c I used to cop those at my local cuban/chinese restaurant):

Week of 3/3/09:
Grandmaster Flash “The Bridge” – 1075
Chicharones – “Swine Country” – 47

And now, with another week under their belts, some of the numbers from previous weeks’ releases start to come into focus a little bit more.

Previous Weeks:
K’naan “Troubador” (2nd week – 6,261 – 60% drop) – 21,647 total (60/40 – digital/physical)
Havoc “Hidden Files” (2nd week 566 – 40% drop) – 1,551 total (70/30 physical/digital)
B-Real “Smoke N Mirrors” (2nd week – 2,268 – 40% drop) – 6,165 total (70/30 physical/digital)
N.A.S.A. “Spirit of Apollo” (3rd week – 1559 – 30% drop) – 7,207 total (60/40 physical/digital)
Katt Williams “It’s Pimpin Pimpin” – 10,978 total units (since 1/27) (55/45 physical/digital)

Stay tuned for next week’s numbers, which will include at least a couple more interesting projects, like brother ali, the dream & more.  And, as always, shoot me a comment and let me know if there’s anything I’m missing, or that you’d be interested in seeing info on.
Peace

  1. Y’all should listen to K’naan’s dreamers and 15 minutes. really, really good. This is even better than his debut album the dusty foot philosopher. this guy has some words, man.
