Barack Obama, According To Shaq, “Killed” Rondo After He Joked On His Jumper

Shaq sure knows how to reel ’em in. His book titled Shaq Uncut will drop soon and Slam got their hands on a compelling anecdote. The US President’s well known as a basketball nut. However it looks like his scouting report on Rajon Rondo hit too close to home.

In early March some of the guys went to the museum of Fine Arts for a fund-raiser and got to hang with President Barack Obama. Everyone was a little bit in awe. The President turns to Ray, points at Rondo, and says, “Hey, Ray, why don’t you teach this kid how to shoot?” Everyone starts laughing.

KG told me he saw the look on Rondo’s face and the kid was devastated, embarrassed. Dissed by the President, even though I’m sure Obama didn’t mean any harm. Rondo smiled and went along with all of it, but KG told me he could see it in his eyes. It bothered Rondo. It killed him.

The next day Rondo shot the ball horribly. He stopped taking shots after that. He’s so sensitive. I think it was a real jolt to hear the outside perception of a basketball fan who happens to be the President of the United States. It messed with his mind. I’m sure of it.

Meanwhile, a decent joke got lost amidst all the speculation circulating this quote. Plus it’s not like Obama lied. Any basketball fan with half a brain knows Rajon can’t shoot. Few players this side of NorBel James get their J more disregarded than Rondo. Obviously the added weight stems from the messenger being the US President and all. Well, Rondo evidently isn’t the type to fuel himself off of negative reinforcement.

Rajon’s got great court vision, plays passing lanes well and will kill you off the dribble for a high percentage shot. But it really puzzles me why his jumper hasn’t improved despite having one of the best shooters EVER on his team in Ray Allen. You’d think he’d follow Ray’s strict shooting regimen in order to gain ground by now. He’s still young but, five years into his career, he’ll need to develop his jumper sooner rather than later. The Big Three’s time is almost up and, unless Boston’s front office acts accordingly, the team will be short on scoring options once they hang it up.

  1. Celts dying out and if I was Rondo I would take that into a positive move…1-the President knows my name and likes me enough to mention me

  2. Rondo been in tha league over 5 yrs now and still cant shoot. What does he do in tha offseason? Players should add something new 2 tha game after each saeson. He's already a great rebounder for his position & is a great passer so all he gotta do is shoot. Not 2 mention Ray Allen is on ur team so u could surely pick sum pointers from him. J.Kidd worked with Dirk a little & look @ him now he's champ with a consistent 3ball which he neva had the first 13-15yrs in tha league & thats what held from gettin chips wit New Jersey those 2 yrs they went 2 tha chip. As good as Rondo is he's actually holding boston back from making it back 2 tha finals cuz @ tha end of tha day u gotta make shots….Jus ask LeBronski
