As we previously reported, Eminem is gearing up to play a boxer in the upcoming film, Southpaw.  Now, it looks like Marhsall will tackle two more films before the year’s end.  Vulture reports that Eminem is set to star in the 20th Century Fox crime thriller, Random Acts Of Violence.  Apparently, Violence was supposed to be the film adaptation of the video game, Grand Theft Auto, but after years of rewrites and refusals from Rockstar Games to license the game, the script was rewritten by Californication director, David Von Ancken, to be more like The Town or The Departed.  A brief synopsis describes Random Acts;An ex-con smarter than his past is fresh out of prison and trying to stay legit – but his efforts are complicated by his old gang, who want him back on the job. So, too, does the FBI, which hopes he’ll wear a wire and bring down the crime syndicate. The ex-con, meanwhile, tries to play both sides against each other long enough to exact revenge.”  In addition, Em will producing (through Shady Films) a 3-D horror flick, titled Shady Talez.

I don’t know about the horror movie, but I’m interested to see how Southpaw and Random Acts Of Violence turn out.  Marshall was great in 8 Mile and during his brief cameo in Funny People, but he basically plays himself in both roles.  It’s just sort of hard for me to picture Eminem as a fictional character when I see him in on screen.
