Baton Rouge natives, Kevin Gates and Young Boy Never Broke Again, have consistently championed one another, with the former taking on a big brother archetype for the latter. Both known for portraying stories of their harrowing adolescence, conveyed by a southern twang, Gates and NBA YoungBoy are kindred spirits–two rappers cut from the same cloth who share similar perspectives. This past weekend, they united those perspectives on their joint EP, 4 Respect. This marks NBA YoungBoy’s second collaborative project with a major industry player; the first was his 2017 project, Fed Baby’s, with Moneybagg Yo.
