It’s been a minute since I’ve done one of these posts, but today’s been such a good day in the underground that I couldn’t let this music go unacknowledged.  With that said, let me transition into one of the dopest songs I’ve heard this week, “Clap” by Pharoahe Monch.  It’s been four years since Monch released Desire, but today he dropped the latest single from his upcoming album, W.A.R. (We Are Renegades).  Not only is Pharoahe’s flow impeccable, it’s one of a kind.  M-Phazes handled the production on this one and definitely made it a banger…I’ve only heard a handful of tracks from him, but it’s no wonder why everyone’s praising this cat.  Just wait until the end when Pharoahe breaks it down over the claps.  You can stream “Clap” below, but if you want to cop this one, you have to go to iTunes and throw down 99 cents.

This one’s also interesting, but for another reason.  I’m sure you’ve heard this beat and chorus somewhere else before.  That’s right; it was featured on Eminem’s RecoveryStrong Arm Steady originally recorded this in 2007 when they were signed to Warner.  Three years later, the DJ Khalil produced track became a hit.  Word is SAS planned to get Ludacris on this for a feature.  I personally think Eminem’s version is better, but this is worth a listen.  This is actually the second time to my knowledge  that SAS has had a beat turned over to a bigger act…apparently Kanye’s G.O.O.D. Friday joint, “The Joy,” was theirs originally.

Oh No back with some baked out craziness as he proceeds to “lace a blunt with kif and get higher than the seven seas” on “Sound Off.”  Termanology and a solid verse on this as well. If you haven’t heard The Alchemist and Oh No’s collaborative effort, Gutter Water, you’re missing out…Ohnomite coming soon.

I’m sticking Joe Budden in this post even though he’s not exactly the most underground rapper out there.  I mean, Slaughterhouse just signed to Shady Records, but when you put everything in perspective, this shouldn’t change Budden’s status.  I mean he was signed to Def Jam at one point and recorded “Pump It Up,” but all the while was making fire mixtapes with crazy lyrics.  Anyway, this is part two of Budden getting emotional (not emo) on the relationship tip over Sade’s “No Ordinary Love.”  If you missed it, here’s part one.

Moment of silence because this track right here is deceased/killed it, kissed it goodnight for a permanent sleep/I learned that snakes in the grass is a worm in the street/when you stay true to yourself, you’re eternally free. I can’t lie, I’m not really up on Jon Connor, but for someone bearing the same name as a character from the Terminator he’s pretty nasty. Jon jumped on my favorite instrumental from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and really beasted through it.

These guys are very impressive.  Mackelmore and producer Ryan Lewis stay on their epic rap ballad steez with an ode to Nikes.  Trust me, this one is way different than any song you’ve heard about sneakers before.  This song features live violin, cello, piano, trumpets, bass, and children’s choir.

Kidz In The Hall are back with their latest offering, “So Amazin.”  I’ve never been that into the Kidz, but producer Double 0 definitely went in on this beat, so take a listen.  No word on when their next project drops.

I’ll end this post on a high note.  Onyx is one of my favorite New York Hip Hop groups of all-time, as is Non Phixion.  Well it just so happens that ILL Bill jumped on this Onyx joint, which originally dropped last year to promote a yet to be made energy drink.  Some scream rap for ya…Bill murders it.
