Eminem, EMA 2013, Full Episodes
Drew: What qualities signify the fans in Eminem’s core audience?
Dan: I’d say the majority of Eminem’s core audience would fall under the umbrella of hip-hop “traditionalists.” Meaning, they like what they like and there’s pretty much nothing that’s going to change their views at this point. They enjoy relatively safe rap music and scoff at the idea of hip-hop evolving past someone simply rapping over a beat and calling it a day. Their interest in rap music doesn’t go too far past the surface level. Things like context, pathos and actual authenticity don’t matter much to them. They’re definitely probably also big fans of J. Cole because he, like Em, shares an affinity for rapping over terrible piano beats, saying “f—-t” a lot, and just generally creating the most mediocre, emotionally-shallow rap music you can get these days.

Ew, don’t watch the video from Brenda, it’s virus!
Oh come on DrewBreez, the album is great. It’s not perfect, but to say it got uneven marks is just wrong. From what I know, most other sources laud the effort!
Hi Dan, I like Headlights as well. I think it’s the best song out of this album.
It is interesting how you see Eminem fans as traditionalist. But I guess I do agree with you.
I do hope that MMLP2 is not his last album. I very much enjoy Eminem’s music!
I think that Dre and Eminem will work together again and soon. Let’s not read too much into it.
