The question remains about whether or not any of these acts will truly cross over. Mac Miller seems poised to do so, as just in the past month or so he’s landed on songs with top 40 radio staples like Maroon 5 and Cobra Starship. Yelawolf has the Shady Records cosign, which may or may not be a gift and a curse. Kreayshawn seemed to have her moment, but with no follow up in sight, her star is beginning to fade. I’d argue that if none of these acts make it to the next level- whatever that next level is in music these days- it’s not a question of their overall talent or anything of that nature. It’s just a changing of tastes and the cyclical nature of how popularity works. They love you, then they hate you, then they love you, then hate you again. White or otherwise.
